Summary

tariff.lk is designed to work without collecting personal information. We don't require accounts, we don't track you across the web, and we don't sell data to anyone.

What We Don't Collect

  • No user accounts or registration required
  • No names, email addresses, or personal identifiers
  • No payment or financial information
  • No tracking cookies or cross-site tracking
  • Shipment and VDF data is processed in your browser and is not stored on our servers

What We May Collect

We may collect anonymous, non-personal usage data to improve the Service:

  • Page views and usage patterns — anonymous analytics to understand which features are used (e.g., via Vercel Analytics)
  • Search queries — to improve search quality and identify gaps in our tariff data. These are not tied to any individual user.
  • Error logs — technical error information to fix bugs

Cookies

The Service may use essential cookies for basic functionality (e.g., remembering your currency preference). We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.

Third-Party Services

The Service may use the following third-party services:

  • Vercel — hosting and deployment (may collect anonymous analytics)
  • Supabase — database hosting for tariff data and exchange rates (no personal data stored)
  • OpenAI — AI-assisted search processing (search queries are sent to OpenAI for embedding generation; no personal data is included)

Data Protection

We are committed to compliance with the Personal Data Protection Act No. 9 of 2022 (PDPA) of Sri Lanka. As we currently do not collect personal data, our obligations under the PDPA are minimal. Should we introduce features that require personal data (such as user accounts), we will update this policy accordingly and ensure full PDPA compliance.

Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the “Last updated” date at the top of this page.
